Cornerstone Accreditation

Waimairi Road Family Medical Centre is Cornerstone accredited with effect from 17 July 2017.  This is an accreditation of quality achieved through the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners ‘Aiming for Excellence’ programme. Our practice team is very committed to continuos quality improvement in clinical and organizational systems, processes and procedures.

Welcome Erica

We would like to welcome Erica who has joined our clinical team as a practice nurse.  Erica will be a great asset for us as she is an experienced registered nurse. She brings excellent hospital nursing experience and is looking forward to learning more about community care.  Apart from English, she can speak fluent Mandarin and Cantonese.

HPV immunisation

HPV immunisation aims to protect young people from HPV infection and the risk of developing cervical cancer and a range of other HPV diseases later in life. The government is now funding free HPV vaccinations for both males and females who are between 9 -26 years old, including non-residents under the age of 18.

Smoking cesation

Smoking can increase risks for many diseases, including chronic obstructive lung disease, ischaemic heart disease, stroke, pneumonia, lung, head and neck cancers and much more.  We would like to assist you to stop smoking.  If you are thinking about smoking cessation, please do not hesitate to contact our nurse for more information.

Online Bookings

We are really excited to have recently signed up to ConnectMed which means that registered patients can now book their doctors appointments, request repeat medications and view their test results online. Once you have registered for this service at reception, you can access this through the ConnectMed website (www.connectmed.co.nz) or our medical centre’s own website (www.waimairimedical.co.nz).

Our medical centre would like to keep the most current medication list for you.  We encourage you to notify us as soon as possible if other medical practitioners change or add medication to your medication lists.  We would encourage you to bring your medication (including supplements) or your medication list with you when you come to see…

Enrol with our medical centre

We welcome new patients to enrol with our medical centre.  Please allow 30 minutes when you come to visit the doctor for the first time.  Our friendly nurse would like to see you first for 15 minutes to collect essential medical history and do a basic examination before you see the doctor.

National cervical cancer screening program

Cervical smears can pick up the abnormal cells that have the potential to turn into cervical cancer.  We encourage all our female patients aged between 20 – 69 to enrol with the national cervical cancer screening programme.  The nurses at our medical centre can do cervical smears for our female patients.  We provide free cervical smears for priority…
